Also, the book's introduction is included in the "Author's Message."
As this new century began to unfold, so did
a new urgency to question what we value, what we honor, and what
we hold dear. Collectively, we had reached a "choice point" -
a time to review and reevaluate the direction of our future and
the workability of our life and business practices.
Local entrepreneur
and leading regional expert on life-coaching, Sydney Rice, has
written an powerful new book, Choice
Points: Navigate Your Career Using the Unique PaperRoom Process™ (Davies-Black
Publishing, 2003), that presents truly innovative strategies
and transformational
solutions for managing change and achieving greater life-balance.
Rich with insight and real-life examples, Choice
Points evolved
from Rice's twenty-five-plus years of coaching experience with
over 2,000 clients, in individual in business environments.
From The Introduction :: Why The Book Was Written
"
A 'Choice Point', " says Rice, " is a moment or time
when we must make a decision to make our lives more fulfilling.
We know the past is no longer working; neither are our familiar
decision-making processes. My work has shown me that a whole new
model of assessment for making truly meaningful change is needed."
There are two things that brought me to write this book. One is
my need to point out--broadcast actually--that living longer, healthier
lives has revealed a new rewarding life stage of which we aren't
taking advantage. The second is that our increasing ability to "cope" is
dangerously surpassing our tenacity to find satisfying solutions
and to see new opportunities.
The "straw that broke the camel's back" that had me
decide to write this book was a client's aside about her boss.
She mentioned
that her new boss was becoming quite difficult, but that it wasn't
a problem--he was "only going to be there for 3 or 4 years." What
was she going to do, I thought, just be "on hold" for
all that time?
The PaperRoom System™ allows people to create a life
in which they feel fulfilled, respected, and valuable, often
within the parameters
of their current situation. I wanted these tools to be available
to anyone who takes seriously the quality of their life and is
frustrated with their current results.
