How Did It Start?
In 1995 Sydney Rice developed the PaperRoom System using adult learning methodology, personal systems concepts, professional
coaching methods, traditional mentoring practices, and her own personal
experience to work more effectively with her coaching clients. It got
named the "PaperRoom" because at its early stages the process
could only be taken at the Boston Coaching Company's office where the
process unfolded on almost 6 yards of paper covering three walls of a
small room used only for that purpose. Today, over 600 individuals have
taken part in the PaperRoom Process in that room. In early 2003, the
PaperRoom broke out of its small confines; Davies-Black published the
book Choice Points: Navigating Your Career with
The Unique PaperRoom Process, The Boston Coaching Company licensed
10 PaperRoom facilitators and launched the PaperRoom group Workshops
at Time Inc.
